CO-CURRICULUM COURSE

Co-Curriculum Course is a compulsory university course and students are required to fulfil a minimum of 2 credit hours for graduation. In total, there are six (6) Co-Curriculum Courses that are offered in every semester carrying a total of 2 credit hours. The establishment of these courses are in line with the objectives of Co-Curriculum Courses set by the Ministry of Higher Education, emphasizing self-learning and alternative assessment. By the end of this course, students are able to develop and acquire at least one transferable skill. The six (6) courses offered are:

Student Development Programme (PPS)


Students may choose any of the six (6) courses throughout their programme of study in Universiti Malaya based on their interest, talents, or abilities.

As a brief introduction, Community Service (GKK1001) and Volunteerism (GKS1001) is designed to promote involvement of students in outreach programmes, projects with the local community and to instil the spirits of volunteerism. Talent Development (GKP1001) is the participation of students in any projects that aims to develop skills and competencies. Students who represent Universiti Malaya in academic, sports or any relevant competition are also encouraged to register for this course. Attach@Industry (GKA1001) is designed to provide early exposure and adaptation into the real working environment and increase students’ employability upon graduation. Entrepreneurship (GKU1001) is a form of entrepreneurship education program to inculcate an entrepreneurial mindset and ecosystem. Independent Research (GKI1001) is a research-based project developed for students to experience research first-hand guided by the instructor.

This co-curriculum course is designed to recognize students’ co-curricular activities achievements complementing academic learning to further enhance students’ interest in their programme of study and employability. Co-curricular activities allow for learning objectives to be focused on improving student’s soft skills and psychological capitals.
