Congratulations on your offer to study at Universiti Malaya. We’re delighted to welcome you to our university community. All new students are encouraged to join Universiti Malaya – Week of Welcome (UM-WOW) to get familiar with campus facilities, meet fellow students, and learn about available support services.

UM-WOW includes informative sessions and activities to help you feel prepared and connected from day one.

Kindly confirm your attendance before 27 February 2026 to support planning and ensure orientation materials can be prepared. Late confirmations may affect availability of materials and arrangements.
Important Notes for Research Mode Students:
  1. UM-WOW is primarily designed for Undergraduate students and Postgraduate students in Coursework or Mixed Mode programs. Research students (Master’s and PhD) may attend if they wish, but participation is entirely optional.
  2. If research students arrive on campus after orientation week, registration can be completed at your respective Faculties, Academies, or Institutes.
  3. Confirmation of your attendance is still required to assist the University in preparing orientation materials and related arrangements.

  1. Drop-Off Points
    Our airport pick-up service offers two drop-off points: UM Campus and KL Sentral (a major public transport hub in Kuala Lumpur).
  2. Requests Outside Scheduled Slots
    Requests outside the assigned dates or time slots cannot be accommodated.
  3. Early or Late Arrivals
    Students arriving outside the pick-up schedule must arrange their own transport to their accommodation or UM Campus.

  1. Pre-Arrival Briefing is only for students who have confirmed acceptance of the Offer Letter to study at Universiti Malaya.
  2. The Zoom link will be sent to your email address registered with UM MAYA Portal by 16 February 2026.
  3. If you miss all sessions, no additional session will be scheduled. You may contact our team for guidance.
  4. Postgraduate students are advised to refer to the email sent to them to identify their assigned session category.

Universiti Malaya Week of Welcome (UM-WOW) — Session 2025/2026, Semester II (March Intake)
Q: When is the residential college registration date?
A: Students are required to register according to the information provided via Siswamail.
Q: What documents are required for registration/check-in?
A: Please bring:
  • Offer Letter
  • Accommodation Check-In information/document
  • One (1) passport-sized photo
Q: How can students get information about UM-WOW?
A: Kindly refer to the official Student Affairs Department website and the official UM-WOW Instagram account for updates.
Q: When should I arrive in Malaysia?
A: Students are advised to arrive a few days before UM-WOW, ideally between 1–3 March, to allow sufficient time for immigration clearance, accommodation check-in, and administrative preparation.
Q: What happens at the airport upon arrival?
A: At Immigration, you may be required to present:
  • Passport
  • Visa Approval Letter (eVAL)
  • Offer Letter (if requested)
Please ensure your passport is stamped correctly before leaving the immigration counter.
Q: What is the Pre-Arrival Briefing?
A: The Pre-Arrival Briefing is an official online session (via Zoom) that provides important information for international students on immigration procedures, student pass endorsement, UM-WOW, campus life, and student support services. Attendance is strongly encouraged.
Q: Is on-campus accommodation available?
A: On-campus residential colleges are available, but spaces are limited. Placement is prioritised for undergraduate students. Students may arrange off-campus accommodation independently through housing agents. Any agreement made with external parties is strictly between the student and the respective agent.
Q: What is UM-WOW/Orientation Week?
A: UM-WOW (Orientation Week) is designed to support students’ academic and social integration into the university. The programme includes official briefings, faculty engagement sessions, campus familiarisation, cultural immersion activities, and student support services.
Q: Are airport pickup services available?
A: Airport pickup services at KLIA Terminal 1 and KLIA Terminal 2 will be provided for new students who require transfer to Universiti Malaya Central and KL Sentral.
Q: What clothing should students wear during UM-WOW?
A: Students are advised to wear smart casual attire and sportswear. Students are also encouraged to bring traditional attire for designated activities.
