When constructed in 1997, the Eleventh Residential College was built to accommodate students who enrolled in the Centre For Foundation Studies in Science pre-university programme as well as the students in the Japanese University Preparatory Programme (RPKJ) offered by the Ministry of Education.
On the 18th of December 2004, the college was renamed the Ungku Aziz Residential College in honour of Yang Mulia Royal Professor Ungku A.Aziz, former Vice Chancellor of University Malaya, and the founder of the University's Science Centre. His Royal Highness Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Raja Muda Perak Darul Ridzuan Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah (DK, DK II (Selangor), SPCM, SPTS, SPMP (Perlis), PhD (Harvard) officiated the renaming ceremony.
In July 2007, the college had its first intake of undergraduate students and in June 2014, Eleventh Residential College starts to accommodate students of Center for Foundation Studies in Science. The college is also accepting tenants for air-conditioned rooms and apartments (subject to availability).
